Description

Maid-Rite sandwich is a loose meat sandwich with seasoned ground beef, served on a bun with pickles and mustard.

Ingredients

  •  1 lb ground beef (85/15)
  •  1/2 cup water
  •  1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  •  1 tbsp yellow mustard
  •  1 tsp onion powder
  •  1 tsp garlic powder
  •  1/2 tsp salt
  •  1/2 tsp black pepper
  •  1 tbsp brown sugar (optional)
  •  4 hamburger buns
  •  Pickles (for topping)
  •  Additional mustard (for serving)

Instructions

1. In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef, breaking it into fine crumbles.

2. Add water, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and brown sugar.

3. Simmer uncovered for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the liquid is mostly absorbed.

4. Spoon the loose meat onto hamburger buns.

5. Top with pickles and additional mustard if desired.

6. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

  •  Traditional Maid-Rite sandwiches do not include ketchup.
  •  Use a potato masher for a finer meat texture.
  •  Serve with classic sides like chips or coleslaw.
