Ingredients
- 2 chicken breasts
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
- Vegetable oil for frying
- 4 burger buns
- Lettuce leaves
- Tomato slices
- Mayonnaise or your favorite sauce
Instructions
1. Marinate chicken breasts in buttermilk for at least 1 hour.
2. In a bowl, mix flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and cayenne pepper.
3. Heat oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat.
4. Dredge the marinated chicken breasts in the flour mixture, coating them well.
5. Fry the chicken for 5-7 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through.
6. Toast the buns lightly in the same oil.
7. Assemble the sandwich: spread mayo or sauce on the bottom bun, add lettuce, fried chicken, and tomato slices.
8. Top with the other half of the bun and serve.
Notes
- For a spicier version, add hot sauce to the mayo or sauce.
- You can add pickles for an extra crunch.
- Ensure the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) to be fully cooked.
