Description

Ricotta bread is a soft, moist, and flavorful bread made with ricotta cheese, creating a tender crumb and rich taste.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tbsp honey or sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, mix warm milk, yeast, and honey. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  • In a large bowl, combine flour and salt.
  • Add ricotta cheese, melted butter, egg, and vanilla (if using) to the flour mixture.
  • Pour in the yeast mixture and knead until a soft dough forms (about 8 minutes).
  • Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1-2 hours until doubled.
  • Punch down the dough, shape it into a loaf or rolls, and place on a baking sheet.
  • Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  • Cool before slicing and serving.
